While it’s not my favorite thing on Earth, I must admit that I enjoy getting new decor for my apartment. I’ve found some really cool pieces from Target, Crate & Barrel, Bed, Bath & Beyond, etc. Sometimes, however, it’s a lot more fun to make than it is to buy. And cheaper, too! Although I work too hard to ball on a budget, my wallet often refuses to support my frequent need to give all of my money to Touch of Modern and Uncrate. That’s why I turn to instructables.com, Etsy and other do-it-yourself (DIY) websites when I need an ordinarily expensive, awkwardly sized or randomly extravagant item. And people say that I’m not handy… Well, look at me now, Dad! In your face.
So far, I’ve built this patriotic hammock, this vertical bike rack, this leaning lounge chair and a similar keyholder to this one. All fully functional and awesome. I took the TRI poll and the results came back “eclectic.” I guess my affinity for DIY kinda proves it, huh?
