Happy Fourth of July! The most relevant apartment decor for today would be a wall-sized American flag for your living room or hang off your balcony, appropriate for Independence Day or any day.
In college, I purposely leased apartments that were fully furnished to avoid having to purchase or move any furniture. As a new homeowner, I have finally made the plunge to buy some nice furniture for my new condo. My strategy was to buy furniture that was functional, attractive, and wouldn’t break the bank.
For beds, many of the mattress companies run killer sales during holiday weekends (such as this). I had great luck at Mattress Firm on President’s Day Weekend.
As far as decorating the living room or common area, I wanted the pieces to complement each other. After shopping through a couple of furniture stores, I found the style I wanted in a dark soft leather couch and matching coffee tables and end tables at Ashley Furniture. Negotiate for free delivery, since most of my friends do not own U-hauls and it makes your moving experience much easier.
Attractive and functional window dressings are key, as the weekends are prime for sleeping in. I found a great pair set of window dressings with blackout panel, which is perfect for the mornings you don’t need an alarm.
Since I live in a bachelor pad, I have a masculine look with wood and leather as my staples as decor. It is functional and attractive, and the perfect place to come home to.
A good day to be an American!
