Guide to Watches: Classic and Simple

Watches are a great way to successorize for work and play. I’m a big proponent of trying to keep any accessory (watch, tie, cuff link) as simple as possible. If you have a smaller wrist like me, something too big and gaudy just looks awkward. Let’s leave the overgrown time pieces to Flavor Flav. The look of simplicity to me means a clean circled face free of the bells and whistles that tell you if it’s dark outside (just look out the window…) But simple doesn’t mean it can’t have flavor. I’m a huge fan of leather bands. They emphasize a clean look, while giving your wrist a bit more character then the traditional links.

Here are two recommendations for classic and simple watches that won’t break your bank. My first would be Stuhrling’s Original Men’s Ultra Thin. This watch has the most classic white face presentation that is quick to impress but not overwhelm. At a cool $75, this is a great buy for any young professional. Great with your grey and black suits. Second would this watch by Ted Baker. With a clean white face, brown accents, and a brown leather band, this watch is perfect for introducing to your professional social events.
